Hi, I’m Anne.

I am a German expat living in London, in her mid-40s, who loves guinea pigs, singing, dancing, fitness, & cooking.

I have been obsessed in improving my own fitness & physical appearance since 1992 when I saw Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2 doing chin-ups on her bed frame! I was completely mesmerised by her toned, slim but muscular appearance that I wanted to be just like her. To this point I have never seen a female as fit & strong as this and I have found my new role model, other than Rocky, which I was also obsessed with. Finally I had a cool looking & super fit female role model. 😮

The iconic chin up scene with Linda Hamilton, which changed my life:

I was so inspired that I ran to the next tree, trying to do some chin ups, quickly realising that they are much harder than I thought they would be. Remember I was  only 12 back then & not the heaviest around town, yet I still couldn’t lift myself up. However I was determined & this was the beginning of a life long obsession with fitness, strength & health. And that all started from simply watching Linda Hamilton doing chin ups on her bed frame.

So I had to become a little more, or let’s say much more, educated about how to get to the goal I wanted. I read every single fitness, strength & diet book out there. Back then in 1992 it was all just in books, no internet, books mainly focused on the male body as women reading strength training & body building books in the early 90s, especially at 12, were unheard of. My parents thought that I’ve lost my mind, but I was determined – I wanted to do those chin ups & look as cool as Linda Hamilton.

Reading all those books I realised that I had to train differently, build my overall strength differently (as 12 year old I’d never though that I need to strengthen anything else other than my arms for chin ups….turns out it was way more complicated than that 😦 ). I also realised that I had to eat differently. To look like Linda I had to eat a little more protein than the pasta Bolognese my mom was giving me. You can imagine what an annoying child I was, & a strange one to. All just because of a couple of chin ups in Terminator 2. I bet my parents secretly wished they’d never shown me that movie.

Many years in, I have learnt how to not only do chin ups, but every single other fitness, strength & flexibility challenge I’ve given myself (you can imagine what happened after I’ve watched John Claude Van Damme doing those splits…I don’t think that I need to get further into that, by now you’ve get the idea).

Look how cool John Claude is doing his splits:

And that’s me slightly less cool, but still very much capable to hold my own chin ups or full splits:

Basically I’m obsessed & it’s the only way to put it. It has never stopped to this very day & I’m in my 40s now. So it was inevitable that I was becoming not only a fitness instructor, but also personal trainer.
